A New German Course starts for High School Students!

Information about German course for Students in High School and College

GermanConnect – German Language Service, Zionsville, is proud to offer a German course for students in high school and colleges rman but do not have or have no longer access to a German program at their current High School or College/University.

- We are proud to be able to work with qualified and experienced teachers (native speakers) from Germany and the US.

- This is a no credit course.

- The course features only online sessions which will be one hour (50 minutes) at a time. A minimum of 60 minutes per week should be planned for homework assignments.

- A placement test must be completed before the beginning of a course if the student has completed previous work in German.

GER01 in High School:

Group size: 1-4 students.

Price per student: between 17 $ and 40 $ per hour, depending on the group size, excluding materials (about 50 €).

Course length: 18 weeks per semester

Course start date: TBA

Course times: 50 minutes per session. Tuesday – 7:30 a.m. or 4 p.m. EST, Thursday 7:30 a.m. or 4 p.m. EST

Other times are available on request.

Course content: This beginning semester will introduce to you the German language in an original cultural room. It will enable you to communicate in real situations. It systematically builds up your vocabulary and grammar by induction from the material and numerous exercises and drills. It develops your listening and reading skills through specifically chosen texts. The program will take students through the five “Cs” of communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities and allow them to achieve the skills to implement their knowledge.

Specific learning activities:warm-up activities, vocabulary study, reading, threaded discussions, multi-media presentations, self-checks, practice activities and games, oral and written assignments, projects, tests, quizzes, and exams.

Grammar focus: Students learn to discriminate and pronounce German sounds and to understand and produce contemporary spoken and written German expressions. Basic structural pattern include the nominative, dative, and accusative cases; present, perfect, and future tenses; the modals, and the imperative.

3. Regular attendance and preparation for class.

4. Active participation.

5. Complete (and self-correct written) exercises. Students are responsible for completing the written and oral homework assignments on time.

6. Complete all written tests (one per chapter), vocabulary quizzes (two per chapter) and final exam.
